CyanogenMod 11 (4.4 KitKat) for HTC Explorer- How To Update It

Did you even thought of CyanogenMod 11 (4.4 KitKat) for HTC Explorer? I am sure you didn't expected this. HTC Explorer is an latest outdated Android device because of it's specifications and the release date. I am not saying the device is poor but it is a great that this device has received CyanogenMod 11. Many other popular devices like HTC One X has not got KitKat update! I actually can't believe on it because it has got CyanogeMod 11 but anyway, good for HTC Explorer customers.
Let's see the specifications of this device first.

Specifications of HTC Explorer (Pico)

  • 3.2 inch TFT capcitive display with 320 x 480 resolution
  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread
  • 512 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM
  • 90 MB internal storage, which can be further expandable up to 32 GB via MicroSD Card
  • 3.15 Mega Pixels camera with 2048x1536 pixels resolution
  • 600 MHz Cortex A5 Qualcomm MSM7225A Snapdragon CPU
  • Adreno 200 GPU
  • Bluetooth, 2G, 3G, WiFi
The specifcations of this device is poor because it's outdated but still the RAM is impressive! Impressive means at that time (in 2011) there were very few devices with 512 MB RAM but this device has got 512 MB RAM. The CPU clock is 600 MHz but when you'll install this ROM, you will be on GHz!

Now let's see the downloads, requirements, what to do & what not to do, and the installation guide.

What to do & what not to do
  • Do not flash this on any other device except HTC Explorer (Pico)
  • Do not flash the ROM with stock recovery.
  • Flash it only with CWM Recovery.
  • Do not try to mix any AOSP ROM's files with this ROM's because it might not boot.
  • Do not follow any other guide and mix it with this one.
How To Install Android 4.4 KitKat (CyanogenMod 11) in HTC Explorer (Pico)
  • Download the ROM.
  • Move it to your External SD Card.
  • Shut down the device completely.
  • Hold down Volume Down + Power Button simultaneously for some time.
  • Soon Bootloader mode will appear on the screen. Select Recovery from the options of bootloader.
  • Make a Nandroid backup first [Backup and restore > Backup].
  • Wipe the Data [Wipe data\Factory reset from the main menu].
  • Go to mounts and storage from the main menu and format the system [format /system].
  • Go to advance from the main menu and clear dalvik cache.
  • Select Install zip from sdcard and follow to the ROM.
  • Select the ROM and select yes.
  • Reboot!
The ROM will take more time to boot because it (the OS) is building some caches, important data files and some other files that are needed for the boot. This won;t take more than 5 minutes. So wait for sometimes until you boot into the world of Android 4.4 KitKat. So this was my post on How to update HTC Explorer to Android 4.4 KitKat (CyanogemMod 11). Hope you successfully installed Android 4.4 KitKat on your HTC Pico. If you have any problems while flashing the ROM in your Explorer then shoot a comment. Also please share it with your friends so even they can install KitKat. Other devices users, please wait. I will soon post updates for your devices too.
