How To Root Any MediaTek MT65XX Phone

These days companies are working on making cheap phones and selling at high rates. Most of the comanies launches MediaTek devices inorder to make too much profit while some honest and not so greedy companies releases awesome phones at good price amount for example Motorola Moto E.
Anyways, I am here to show you how to root your MTK device, and not 'how to root Motorola Moto E'.

Which are the ways by which MediaTek device can be rooted?

  • By Flashing custom recovery and then rooting it.
  • By flashing insecured boot image and then rooting it.
  • By flashing pre-rooted firmware or ROM via SP Tools.
  • By Rooting it with tools!
The easiest one is the forth one i.e., Rooting it with tools. There are many applications and tools that can root your MTK phone and best one will be discussed in this guide.
If you have MT6575, then it might not work in your guide, but if you have MT6572, MT6577, MT6589, MT6582 or any other MTK device then 99% it will work.
It won't brick your device while rooting so relax!

Guide 1: How To Root MTK phone with Framaroot:
  • Download Framaroot (Boromir, Faramir and Barahir) application(s).
  • Install Framaroot app.
  • Tap on Boromir, Faramir or Barahir and if you see "Success :-)... Superuser and su binary installed. You have to reboot your device" message, then it means you are rooted. If you failed then follow the next guide.
Note: First try Boromir (1.5.0 APK), if it doesn't work then try Faramir (1.8.0) and then try Barahit (1.9.0) if you failed!

Guide 2: How To Root MTK phone with SRS Root Tool:

  • Install USB Drivers (Automatic installation!) from here.
  • Get SRS Root from here.
  • Open it and connect your device.
  • Go to Settings>About phone and tap 7 times on Build number on your Android device.
  • Go back and you'll see a new option, "Developer options".
  • Open it and enable USB Debugging from here".
  • Tap on Root Device (All methods).
  • Follow the onscreen instructions then!
If you failed then see the next guide.

Guide 3: How To ROot MTK phone with UnlockRoot Tool:
  • Make sure drivers are installed and work properly.
  • Get UnlockRoot app from here. Download Free edition only. Buy it to support the developer if you want to.
  • Click on the big Root button on the right panel of the tool.
  • Follow onscreen instructions then!
Guide 4: Try KingORoot, ERoot and other rooting tools too!

If they don't work then comment your device model and manufacturer. I will download the firmware (if I could) and will make CWM Recovery for it and then you can flash CWM Recovery and root your MTK phone.

MediaTek MTK Kernel Source Code Leaked! Download it from HERE!

MediaTek's full source code has been leaked! Yeah! now you guys can also build Android Kit Kat and other OS for your MediaTek devices.

Kernel Source code is used to compile a new Kernel from Linux. MediaTek is closed source, but somehow the source code of MediaTek got leaked and it got spread in just some hours of leaks and developers have started compiling new kernels with special features. Some vendors like Micromax, XOLO, Karbonn etc. use MediaTek chipsets in their devices for making them affordable for the users and for making them faster. But the main problem was, that MediaTek didn't share their source code with the users so we was not able to compile new kernels with some features, but now it is leaked so you can expect Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean, Kit Kat update for your devices. But the source code is just leaked for some mediatek chipsets which are popular currently, means old ones actually, no new chipset has been leaked from MediaTek.

But the another problem is that the source code is just for some devices! Its not vanilla source code. The code is formed for specific devices like Micromax Canvas 4 etc. You can change the settings of the kernel source to make it boot in your MediaTek devices. Details are cracked down by some people or hackers, we don't know whats it, but its cool! Now we can use the Kernel Source and it was our need because Android and Linux are open source operating systems which means their kernel source to be available for users so they can download it and can customize or do what ever with the kernel source. Here is the list of MediaTek Chipsets for which you can download the source code:

MT6577

MT6582
MT6589
MT6589m
MT6589T

Found your chipset in the list? If yes then you are lucky, even I am lucky! I found my chipset that is MediaTek MT6589, I also have MT6572 device, but unfortunately I didn't found the kernel source their in the folder of kernels.

Download the kernel source from here:

Let me show you how to download Kernel source for your MediaTek chipset:

1. Open FileZilla or any other FTP client (Google chrome or any other browser won't work, we tried doing this in Google Chrome and failed, but you can try this yourself in your browser.)

2. Enter 173.221.31.148 as HOST FTP, BluKernel as the username abc123$ as the password and 21 as the port. Don't enter port address any other because it won't work with any other port. See the following screen for hint:

[click on the image for better and for zooming the image]

3. Now click on Quickconnect or whatever the thing display on your client.
4. It will connect soon and here you are:

Having problem in connecting? Here are the details of the FTP.

Host FTP: 173.221.31.148
Username: BluKernel
Pasword: abc123$
Port: 21

Be fast because we heard news that Blue Kernels are deleting their kernels from their own servers, we don't know that the news is fake or real, but we said what we heard. After downloading the kernels, you can upload it to your favourite website which provides resuming support and can share with us. We will display links of the kernels in our blog.

"Chorus", Samsung Group Play Alternate app for Every device!

Don't you have Samsung Galaxy S4 but want its Group Play feature in your device? If yes then you are at right place.

Samsung Group Play is one of the best feature of Samsung Galaxy S4, the feature used to play one song on different mobiles on same timings. I was just visiting XDA Developers and I saw a new application release named Chorus. The app fulfilled my dream of Group Play feature in my device. Okay, if you haven't heard or used Sasmung Galaxy S4 then let me tell you about its Group Play feature. The Group Play feature was introduced in Samsung Galaxy S4 with its release which allows users to play a single song on other devices (Samsung devices only) by wireless network. This application is just a copy of that application, not a copy but does the same work, but better work. There are no restrictions on the device vendor, also it doesn't require any special feature or hardware requirements but just a WiFi modem which will allow you to sync your music with other devices.
With this application you can turn out your Android devices to a loud speaker because it can be played in many devices simultaneously. I tried this application on my friends and my devices like Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC One Mini and Micromax A117 Canvas Magnus and it was really like a loudspeaker. I was totally impressed with the application and so tough to write an article for this application on my blog.
The application is developed by XDA member rahuliyer95 and he has got many thanks and comments for his fantastic application.
Chorus supports each and every device which uses Android 2.3 Ginger Bread or above. It also uses the same feature as Samsung Group play does, by creating WiFi hotspot to share Play List with the other device.
The host device creates a hotspot, to which other devices using this application can connect to and play the same song on his/her device. Because of WiFi (faster than other networks) the song won't lag and will run flawlessly on even slow routers too.
You can create unlimited play lists and share it with your friends or any other person. He/she just needs a simple 'password' or a 'key' which you will see when you will make your play list so they can connect you.
Some features of "Chorus" are:

  • No Ads or Adfree: the application doesn't show any kind of ads like AdSense or any other ads so you don't need to use applications like AdBlock or other ad blocking applications.
  • The list can be edited any time: You can edit your play list any time and can re-sync it afterwards.
  • Manual Sync option is available: Don't want automatic syncing? Then great because you can also use Manual Sync option in this application.
  • Edge cutting UI: The application has a HOLO themed UI and there are nice animations with it too.
  • Connect millions of devices: If you want to connect your 3, 4 or even 20 devices, then you can connect them easily by using this application and don't need to worry about the number of devices.
  • Supports Android 2.3 Ginger Bread or above: There are many people who still uses Android 2.3 GingeBread or Ice Cream Sandwich in their devices so the application is available for them too as well as for JB/KK too.
Screenshot of this application:

There are many features which you may explore after installing and using this application only!

What are you waiting for? Download the application straight-away on your Android device!

How To Increase Sound of Android Mobile [GB+]

Do you hate your Nexus 5 or any other device because it has low sound? I know how it feels, I had Micromax A60 and it had a speaker that cannot be heard until you place your ear or it! Anyway, it's of no use because I don't use that device. I don't have any android device but when I had my device I tried the Viper4Android Audio Effects mod and that was not fake like many mods available on XDA, that really worked and I was shocked, I thought there is no mod which can increase your sound volume but this MOD really worked. Zhuhang@XDA posted the mod on XDA and he said that he is not the actually but, still thanks to him for his work (even if it is of posting!). Also, the MOD is open-source so you can easily make changes based on your device.

The MOD has been downloaded more than thousands of times and none of the user failed in installing the MOD. The MOD is working on most of the devices, only rare devices cannot utilize it. With this MOD, your treble will be too much high at the maximum volume which is cool but there are some chances of bricking your speaker. This is great for people who use their device for listening to songs with speaker. Also with Acid Sound Mod, this becomes superb! Acid Sound MOD+Viper Sound Mod= DJ! but Viper is way better than Acid Sound Mod.
If you are not sure that the MOD increases the volume then install it and turn off and on between your music, you will surely find the difference in this. The MOD works on GingerBread devices as well! Our excluded OS has compatibility to run Viper4Android MOD, also our latest OS i.e, Kit Kat, this is also supported but only on some devices, people reported that in Kit Kat it is not compatible, means most of the devices got it working but some got failed to boot with it.
You are at MXRootRom, so I think you might know that without rooting my most of the guides are reviews and all but you require root in this process. You don't need any CWM or TWRP to flash the MOD but you need root because it changes and adds some files in /etc and /lib folders when it turns on.
XDA is a great place actually, you can find all MODs and useful things for your Android device there only. Let's no more talk about MXRootRom and XDA and move to our main part of the article.

Features of ViPER4Android FX MOD:

  • Supports Android 2.3+ devices.
  • Has menu of effects (like of DSP manager)
  • Viper Fidelity Mod

How To Install and Enable ViPER4Android Sound MOD in any Android device [Rooted and ICS+]

  • Download the ViPER4Android MOD from the link given above.
  • Extract the ViPER4Android (which is compatible with OS you are running on the board of your device.)
  • Move the extracted .apk to your SD Card (make sure there is a .apk extension behind the application name)
  • Open your File Explorer. Go to the folder where you moved the extracted apk and tap on it.
  • It will display a popup to install it or not. Tap Yes.
  • It will install now. Open the application from your application drawer.
  • It will prompt you to = install Audio drivers or not (just confirm it). Soon it will complete the process.
  • Reboot your device!
  • Open the application again after reboot and you will see options like Handset, Loudspeaker. Play with it and enable any settings that you like.
This should work on any GB+ device and I think it's working on your mobile too, if yes then comment here with your mobile phone and don't forge to give your reviews on this MOD.

How To Enable Virtual Navigation control in any Android device [ICS+]

Did you see Nexus devices? They (most of them) have a Navigation bar (soft keys) in the screen itself and the mobile looks nice, premium and neat with it. But not only Nexuses, LGs and other high-ends devices can have this feature but an Android mobile phone which is rooted and running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or above can easily enable Onscreen navigation bar or soft keys. This is a simple task and one does not need any special thing, just a explorer or anything which can pull, push or edit the build.prop which is in /system/ folder. You don't need to be techish, and even a normal-noob person can follow this guide and enable onscreen buttons easily. I like the onscreen button and was jealous that why only Nexuses and other high-end devices have them, why not Indian and other Chinese devices have them? I did a research for some minutes and found how to enable them. After enabling them I was happy and thought of making a guide on my blog, and here I made it. Actually there's just a simple trick behind this and that is, Indian and other Chinese vendors always remove that line from build.prop because of the screen size and don't even disable the line with xxx='false' but they remove the whole line, I don't know why they do so, but that's bad of them.

Requirements

  • A brain
  • Some basic knowledge of editing files
  • Build.prop (every android has it!)
  • Rooted Android device.
  • Android with Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) or above.
Downloads

If you have not rooted your device then bye-bye, no use of you here, I mean you need rooted device to use this tweak. Rooting is easy and here are some rooting guides which might help you in rooting your device too:

How To Root Micromax A77 Canvas Juice: Pleas click here.
How To Root Karbonn Smart A26: Please click here.
There are many other guides too but I hope these guides will give you an idea on how you can root your device. If you are a MediaTek user, then use Farmaroot application. Oops, I think I am going out of track!

How To Enable On Screen Buttons or Soft Navigation Bar on any ICS+ Android mobile phone

By Root Explorer or any other file explorer:
  • Open terminal emulator.
  • Type reboot recovery.
  •  Make a Nandroid backup!
  • Reboot your device.
  • Open your explorer [say Root explorer]
  • Go to /system folder and scroll a bit, you will find build.prop. [Long press on build.prop file and your explorer should ask you how do you interact with this file, if you see text editor, then chose it else use any other explorer or use next guide.
  • Open it in text editor and scroll to last.
  • When you will be at the end, press enter [for next line] and you will be in the last line.
  • Add
    ###Navbar_by_mxrootrom###
  • so that you can easily remove the navbar if you don't remember which line enabled it.
  • Now again press enter for next line and type
    qemu.hw.mainkeys=0.
  • Save the file.
  • Reboot your android device so you can see the effects of it in the next boot.
  • Woh, done!
By ADB (Android Debugging Bridge)

Make sure your ADB works (I mean drivers are installed properly!)

  • Download the compressed ADB from the link in the download sections.
  • Extract it to your any folder, say C:/users/YOUR_USER_NAME/Desktop/ADB_tools
  • Just open the folder where you extracted the downloaded file.
  • Press and hold Shift Key and hit Right click.
  • You will see Open command prompt here option, click on it.
  • Type adb pull /system/build.prop.
  • In that folder, you will see a new file: build.prop.
  • Edit the file and at the end, press enter so you are in a blank line.
  • Type
    ###Navbar_by_mxrootrom### and hit enter.
  • Now, type
    qemu.hw.mainkeys=0.

(You don't need to add those LF in black box because it means that there is another line after that, I use it for development purpose)
  • In command prompt, type
    adb push build.prop /system/
  • Reboot your android phone!
Now you have a device with Navigation bar, cool na? Show of it with your friends and tell them that you have a premium device. Stay tuned for more simple and cool guides like this.
I tried to be much much clear so you can follow the guide easily but if you still find problem in anything then you can ask me here.

Make your Android Phone faster with King's Booster

Your android device running slow? If yes then rooted users are at right place. Yesterday I made and published a simple bunch of scripts which will/might improve the performance of any android device. Before, I released Geeky Engine but it was removed from XDA after some weeks because of some issues. This time, I have fixed some major and minor issues like Swap crashes, you cannot adjust swappniess and other issues. Now, the script won't make swap in your device and it won't auto-adjust swappiness too!
This is not a great utility like PimpMyRom or any other MODs, but it's just a collection of tweaks (like Adrenaline Engine) so, it won't boost your device like a hell, but it will just remove some lags that will improve raw performance.
The MOD is working on every device. Yeah! Every device! Samsung, Micromax, HTC, Karbonn, ZTE, Lava, XOLO etc. and working on every ROM! AOSP ROMs, AOKP ROMs, CyanogenMod, LeWa OS, JoyOS, MiUi etc.
Let's first of all move to the features of My King's Booster.

Features of King's Booster
  • AROMA INSTALLER- Added Aroma Installer, a full touch based installation of the Booster. Use your screen and tap to the options!
  • Removed Swap related scripts- Now, you have full control on your swap files and swappiness. King's Booster won't make any swap files or set Swappniess.
  • Removed doubled tweaks- There were many scripts that were written 2-4 times! I removed them and it's now light weight.
  • Removed the Data folder's tweaks- The Data tweaks (local file) were of no use, so I removed them.
  • Wiped tweaks that didn't worked on every device- There were some tweaks that only worked for Samsung ROMs, so I removed them to make it available for every device.
  • Added some good tweaks- I've added some more tweaks which will/might improve the performance and battery backup.
  • Better battery backup- Added tons of tweaks for Battery Backup.
  • Faster Internet tweaks- Added many tweaks that will improve the internet speed.
  • Faster SD Card tweaks (reading tweaks)- Boosted the SD Card's reading space.

Requirements
  • Any ROM- Flash it on any AOSP, AOKP ROMs or custom ROMs.

  • Any Android Version- You can use this Booster on any Android Version. Every version is supported- Eclairs, Froyo, GingerBread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean, KitKat.
  • Any Device- Flash the Booster on any device- Samsung, HTC, LG, Micromax, Karbonn, Lava, XOLO etc. This is also compatible with MediaTek Devices.
  • ClockWorkMod Recovery- You need ClockWorkMod Recovery for flashing the booster.
  • Init.d support- You need init.d support in your ROM. To check if there is init.d or not, just see if there is any folder named init.d in /System/etc.
Read ME

I'm not responsible for your bricked Android devices. The Booster is actually compatible with all the devices and all the custom roms but still I won't warranty for this. Anyway, support will be provided from my side because I'm the developer of it. *Always make a Nandroid Backup before flashing anything*

How To Install/Flash King's Booster in any Android Device
  • Download the King's Booster from MediaFire.
  • Push it to your SD Card
  • Reboot your Android device to Recovery
  • Make a Nandroid Backup [Backup and restore > Backup]
  • Go to mounts and storage and mount the System [mount /system]
  • Select install zip from sd card and select King's_Booster_By_Forever_King_XDA.zip.
  • The Aroma Installer will open now.
  • Tap on Next >
  • Again, tap Next >
  • Again press Next >
  • Press Finish.
  • Go back to the main menu
  • Reboot
Downloads
  • King's BoosterClick HERE to download it from the official XDA thread.

Now your device will boot normally! Wow! you have installed the King's Booster successfully on your device. If it is working on your Android device, please comment here with your device name and ROM name. Hope you liked my MOD. Reviews are appreciated!

MediaTek MT6572 Chipset and UBIFS System Review [Pros and Cos]

MediaTek is a Chinese company which are making cheap Android devices with good specifications. Most of us know Indian companies like Micromax, Karbonn, Lava, Spice etc. are just cloning those devices are renaming with Karbonn device, so we also get MediaTek chipset in our Android devices. There are different versions of MediaTek chipsets like MediaTek MT6577, MediaTek MT6589, MediaTek MT6573, MediaTek MT6573, MediaTek MT6572 etc. but we always need to be sure which chipset is best. I get Celkon A63 for just testing purpose and found that it was not at all lagging on Jelly Bean OS. You might thinking why would it lag but I need to tell you that it's having 512 MB RAM. I saw that device is having MediaTek MT6572 processor, which is very fast. Another thing which made this device faster is the UBIFS system and data partitions. UBIFS is actually a Nand Storage but it's better than other Nand storage like EXT4 because it is faster and durable.
Some pros and cos of UBIFS File System:

Pros [Advantages] of UBIFS System support:

  • It's faster than other storage devices- I made a CWM recovery and the way it was restoring the Nandroid backup was amazing. I've tested CWM on same devices but with EXT4 storage and found that UBIFS is better than it.
  • It's un-corruptible- UBIFS system is made to be faster and un-corruptible. Even if you use the storage like a machine, the storage won't be corrupted! This is helpful for developers like me because we need to flash many files to test if they are working or not.

Cos [Disadvantages] of UBIFS System support:
  • No CWM/TWRP Recovery- There's just some devices with the recovery that mounts UBIFS system and that was Christian Troy's CWM Recovery. He's the one who mounted the UBIFS system on CWM Recovery. I also successfully ported his CWM Recovery to support Celkon A63 but the power button is not working, that's the only but I'm facing in mounting UBIFS in Celkon A63 otherwise the recovery is working with no errors.

So I think UBIFS is better than EXT4 because of it's speed and it can be best if we get development for CWM for UBIFS devices.
Okay, as I said another thing that makes Celkon A63 faster is MediaTek MT6572 Chipset. Let's quickly see the Pros and Cos of MediaTek MT6572 Chipset too!

Pros of MediaTek MT6572 Chipset:

  • Faster- A device running Jelly Bean on 256 MB RAM is running like a butter! I could play Subway Surfers and other High Definition games with swap support and there were no lags. The chipset is designed to be faster on even low-end Android devices.

  • Battery saver- There's 1500 mAh battery in Celkon A63 and the battery backup of this device is good when we compare it to other devices having 1500 mAh battery. I use it to play games and running some big apps and still there's no need for me to charge it frequently. The devices like Lava Iris 405 (running on 512 MB RAM, 1 GHz Dual Core Processor, 1400 mAh battery) needs to get charged after ever 7-10 hours! Whereas Celkon A63 needs to charged after 1 day. A63 is running on MediaTek MT6572 chipset, 256 MB RAM, 1.3 GHz Dual Cor processor and still having better battery backup than other devices with other chipset.

  • Don't get up heated- Again, I'd like to give you example of Lava Iris 405 only. People using Lava Iris 405 always have a complaint about the heating problem. The device is running on 1 GHz Dual Core processor and have heating problem whereas A63 is running on 1.3G GHz Dual Core processor and no heat at all.
  • Cheap- When we compare the price of devices running on MT6572 and on other specifications, MT6572 always wins! you can get a device with 512 MB RAM and 1.3 GHz Dual Core processor at just 4-5 thousands. Lava Iris 405 is of 7 thousands whereas Karbonn A12+ is just of 4.5 thousands.

Cos of MediaTek MT6572 Chipset:
  • No Development support till now- When we see to devices like Lava Iris 405, Micromax A89 etc. [MT6577 and MT6589], we see many lots of Custom ROMs for them but when we see devices like Karbonn A12+, Celkon A63 etc. [MT6572 both] there's not even a single ROM for them. No MIUI, No Lewa OS, No BBM-based ROMs etc but in MT6577, there are tons of ROMs. If you are developer or 'superuser' I would say you not to buy MT6572 based Android devices.

MT6572 devices are not having any ROMs because they are new in the market whereas MT6589 and MT6577 are very old. That's having more ROMs before it's old. Don't worry, soon we [MT6572] users will also flash MIUI, Lewa OS and other cool ROMs.
Personally I didn't found any other disadvantage of MT6572 android devices, just one and that I mentioned. Other things working flawlessly like Xposed Framework, Gravity Box etc.

If you are a simple user, no doubt, just go for MT6572 devices and if you are developer go for other devices.
